Amazing Campfire Snacks For The Family

campfire treatsHalf the fun of camping out with your family is the delicious food cooked over the campfire. But the simple s’mores of your childhood have nothing on these incredible fire-roasted treats that creative campers across the country are cooking up over their campfires.

Campfire Cones: Take waffle ice cream cones and fill them with mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, and any other ingredients that might taste yummy, then wrap the cones in foil and heat over the campfire until the contents become gooey and delicious.

French Bread Pizza: Use small french bread loaves, slice in half lengthwise and top with pizza sauce, pepperoni slices, and shredded mozzarella. Then wrap in foil and cook over the campfire until the cheese is warm and melty.

Raspberry S’mores: Made the same way as the old style s’mores, but with one difference”you put a dollop of raspberry preserves onto the toasted marshmallow before topping with the final graham cracker square.

Camping Quesadillas: Lay a flour tortilla on a large square of foil. Layer your choice of toppings onto one half of the tortilla, such as cheddar cheese, green onions, salsa, or a sprinkle of taco seasoning. Then fold the quesadilla and wrap in the foil, and cook it over the hot coals until the cheese is perfectly melted.

Walking Tacos: Cook the ground beef with taco seasoning at home ahead of time. At the campsite, heat up the beef in a pan over the fire. Then take mini bags of Doritos and slice them open along the side (holding the bag sideways). Scoop a little ground beef into the bag, plus any taco toppings like shredded lettuce, sour cream, salsa, or black olives. Eat straight out of the Doritos bag.

These campfire treats will keep your family happy throughout your trip, helping you create special memories together that you can look back on for years to come.
